Program Eligibility Requirements

Student eligibility guidelines

The program accepts students in grades 1-5 in its before school program and its after-school program. How you complete your application allows us to determine your family's eligibility for child care subsidies. Two factors makes qualification likely, but not guaranteed; that is : 1) your child’s participation in  the free and reduced federal lunch program; and, 2 ) your family's status as migrants.  Another potential indicator is membership in the state children’s insurance program. Another potential factor is how much a student is academic risk of failure.

A family may be eligible for the CCIS subsidy

Eligibility depends upon family income, number of family members and number of hours worked by each spouse, single parent, or guardian. We help you complete the forms necessary for this determination by your local CCIS (Child Care Information Services) office. Service in English and Spanish is available. If your family is deemed eligible for the subsidy, CCIS determines the amount and provides you with vouchers that you submit to the K.L.A.S. program. If your child is placed on a waiting list during the 2009-10 school year, he or she will still be eligible for service immediately, provided he or she meets the student eligibility guidelines.
